Reading
Outside is as beautiful as paradise
With white sands and palm trees:
As perfect as a sleeping baby
Sucking its thumb.
Leaves play tag all over
The schoolyard,
And squirrels play hide and
Seek up a maple tree.
The beautiful yellow leaves
Loop lazily lollygagging
In the fresh crisp air.
The wind wooshed mercifully
Around my head as I sat there
Silently willing the furry festive
Fall creatures out their hiding.
Not even siding with the red foxes
Or the brown squirrels.
As I shrink into my book trees
Are giants with clubs and I
Pull my sweater tighter
As I feel the fresness of the air.
My book takes my
Mind, and as I look
Up I see leaves in the
Wreaths on my neighbor's door.
