The Cat
A shadow slinked through the dense underbrush
Emerald eyes glimmering in anticipation
Suddenly, a plump mouse scurried among the roots of a broad oak tree,
Rustling through the leaves as it went.
The silent black hunter dropped to the ground
And slowly, carefully,
Made its way through the looming shadows of the ominous forest.
The mouse pricked its ears, all senses alert
Fear flaring in its eyes
It tried to run, but its pursuer was faster.
A paw swiftly scooped up the petrified rodent,
Tossing it into the cloudy night sky.
The small creature fell to the ground
But it was caged in by unsheathed claws.
The dark feline hunter bared its sharp razor teeth
Dinner was served.
