Jesse James
Tacking up, heading out, and riding away
With nothing but the sun on my back lighting the day.
I'm looking staright ahead with nothing in my way,
And the only sound I hear is the sound of the horse's nay.
The wind's in my face
As we gallop off in this chase
Wanted in the State, and gone without a trace
Time to ride on by to find a new place.
Lifting my hands off the reins and acting like a child,
I howl out loud like something wild.
Then I reach back again and begin to smile,
As my hair falls from the wind newly styled.
Through nightfall I ride
And into the moonlight I stride
Feeling no need to hide,
Because a man and his horse have too much pride.
With cat like senses, and owl's eyes,
My horse and I have become very wise.
The tricks of the night cannot keep their disguise
And nothing comes to us as a surprise.
While it's risky and rough this lifestyle shall remain,
Though I may not be John Wayne,
I am a younger, but I'm not insane
And my name I shall maintain,
I like playing these catching games,
And riding through the flames.
I'm famous alright, and put down in history with a bunch of names,
But mine has always been remembered, as that of Jesse James.
